Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc.is an American film production and distribution company. Columbia Pictures now forms part of the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group, owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, a subsidiary of the Japanese conglomerate Sony this is a corporation made up of a number of different companies that operate in diversified fields. It is one of the leading film companies in the world, a member of the so-called Big Six.
The predecessor of Columbia Pictures, CBC Film Sales Corporation, was founded in 1919 by Harry Cohn, his brother Jack Cohn, and Joe Brandt.
