Conventions and expectations of a thriller genre
Location
The common settings of a thriller I imagine is isolated place or something in such as a big city or a quiet tiny village .the location is usually dependent on what sort sub genre is i expect physiological thriller tend to be based in urban settings while just normal thrillers tend to be in isolated little village to set the eerie tone.
Character
The characters in a thriller i would presume that the male tends to be the hero although its dependent on the genre i find the women only be heroine if they are in danger themselves E.g trapped or kidnapped / i would expect female actors in thrillers to be the typical damsels in distress with blond hair etc.
Narrative
The narrative in a thriller contains a lack of explanation to distort the audience of whats going on so they are unclear of whats to come. the events at the beginning and the storyline reveals the notions and thoughts of why events occurred in thriller genre of film this is how tension is built tension,and suspense and mystery are added to the film as it all unfolds towards the end
Props
The main props I would expect in a thriller are weapons .I think the aim of having weapons in a film as props is to add to the suspense of the thriller the result of using a weopen is nd a nerve-wracking element which engages the audience . These props are a straightforward way of revealing the tension that has been created by all the suspense .

I would imagine the use of non-diegetic sound is to create a somber,pensive atmosphere which create the dark atmosphere of the thriller. especially, in the opening it would helps add to the scene and genre , in order for the audience to see the themes.Non diegetic sound is mainly used for emphasizing the pure force or brutality to exaggerate whats happening in the atmosphere of the movie. The diegetic sound would be used to make the film seem more realistic and help you relate to the film.
